Bright florals are almost always a key summer trend, from simplistic floral print work to bouquets on bouquets of florals, the look generally screams super cute and summery, however summer florals do not have to end with summer as this tend can very easily be brought with you into the autumn/winter season. How, you ask? Well think less prissy, more powerful. Less feminine than summer’s ‘pretty bunch’, rock this season’s florals by keeping it dark, edgy and luxurious.
It is all about the intricate floral embroidery as seen at Dolce & Gabbana and Cristopher Kane’s A/W ’13/'14 shows along with using autumnal palettes or adding lace to spice things as demonstrated by Marc Jacobs and Alexandra McQueen.
Bring your fashion ‘A’ game to work with winter florals, a tiny bit of summer added to your look may just make those long work hours seem less drab.
For the shy and retiring wallflowers (pun intended!), keep it simple by adding a basic white or black piece to even out and complement dark florals. Be it floral leggings or a floral blazer, you can dress it to your taste with your staple black or white.
Add a quirky edge to your look by punking it up; leather is after all going to be your best friend this season. Keep it simple with a floral dress, and a leather jacket, boots or both to punk your look up. An interesting look for the unconventional office girls.
Or keep it girly and cute by adding some pastels and a bit of jewellery. Team a bold floral sweatshirt with pastel coloured jeans (and vice versa), or simply spruce up a sophisticated knit with a floral skirt. If you are in a really playful mood, mix up your floral prints.
